Menon comes from Tirur in Kerala but now lives in Mumbai. His father served the Indian Air Force, while his mother was a housewife. She studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, East Hill, Kozhikode. She participated in Miss India contest in 1994 and was a finalist in second place behind Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai. She became the first woman Gladrags model in 1994 (Kelly Dorjee was the male model), and then Miss Asia Pacific finalist in 1994 in Manila, Cebu, Philippines. She is 5 feet, 7 inches tall.
