Sonam Kapoor was from Chembur, Mumbai. She is the oldest child of Anil Kapoor, who is Punjabi, and Sunita Kapoor, who is Sindhi and the child of film maker Surinder Kapoor. She is the relation of creator Boney Kapoor, celebrity Sridevi, acting professional Sanjay Kapoor and creator Sandeep Marwah. Kapoor is the oldest of three children; the others are sis Rhea Kapoor and sister Harshvardhan. She is also the relation of newcoming acting professional Arjun Kapoor.
She went to university in Mumbai at the Arya Vidya Mandir university in Juhu and then signed up in the U. s. Community Institution of Southern Eastern Japan to do her Worldwide Baccalaureate. She talks Language, Hindi and Punjabi and is a qualified established professional dancer.
